Legacy Institute for Financial Empowerment (LIFE) is a non-profit, organization in Lufkin, Texas that invests in the potential of individuals and creates opportunities to strengthen families and neighborhoods. LIFE has very successfully improved digital literacy and workforce connections in Lufkin. In this session, Executive Director Joe Ceasar will share insights on the grants, partnerships, and strategies that are having a measurable impact on his rural community. About LIFE’s Workforce & Digital Literacy Initiatives:
- LIFE has established a series of programs that support workforce development and digital literacy.
- LIFE established a Financial Opportunity Center (FOC), a model from Rural LISC that provides financial, income support, and career coaching to enable individuals to increase their net income, net worth, and credit scores.
- LIFE Tech is a Registered Apprenticeship Program that provides on-the-job training resulting in industry-recognized certifications such as the CompTIA A+. LIFE’s digital navigation efforts are also hosted by LIFE Tech.
