Preparing and growing the next generation of teachers is crucial to rural education, but what does the rural teacher pipeline in Texas look like? To answer this question, the Research for Educator Equity & Excellence Center at Texas State University mapped the rural teaching pathway for the entire state and in four distinct rural regions. Their data reveal where rural high school students on a teaching pathway go to teach, and where new rural teachers went to high school and got prepared to teach. Moderated by the REDEE Center, learn what the data says about:

  • Rural pathways from high school to teacher certification
  • Where rural teachers come from in Texas
  • Demographics of rural teachers and students
