Focus Area
The Legacy Foundation funds programs that measurably improve the health of those living in the lower Rio Grande Valley by promoting healthy lifestyles and providing increased access to healthcare for all. The Foundation's number one strategic priority is Obesity and Diabetes Prevention. However, they consider funding for all types of health-related initiatives that fall under the following additional program areas: healthy lifestyles, access to care, mental health, aging in place, dental health, medical education, breast cancer, and scholarships.
Through its Collaborative Grants, the Legacy Foundation will both accept and initiate (through an RFP process) applications that fall between $50,000 - $500,000. These are meant to encourage collaboration among organizations working on larger projects, but a single organization's larger project could qualify as well. Collaborative Grants involving various partners can be strengthened by providing Letters of Support within the application which fully describe the nature of the project and collaboration.
