Eligible Entities
Eligible entities are: U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals (males 18+ must be registered for Selective Service); Members or descendants of a federally recognized, state-recognized, or terminated American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native village (for Preparatory and Pre-Graduate scholarships); Members of a federally recognized American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native village (for the Health Professions Scholarship); Students accepted into an accredited U.S. health professions program with a minimum 2.0 GPA who intend to serve Indian communities; and Applicants willing to sign the required program agreement or contract, including a minimum two-year service commitment for Health Professions awardees.
Focus Area
The Indian Health Service Health Professions Scholarship provides financial aid covering tuition, required fees, and other educational and living expenses for qualified American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate- and graduate-level students enrolled in specific health profession degree programs.
Recipients of the scholarship are required to fulfill a service commitment at an Indian health facility for a minimum of 2 years, up to a maximum of 4 years full-time.
