Eligible Entities Applicant must hold a current tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. This includes: traditional agencies that have current 501(c)(3) status; a recognized government entity requesting funds for public charitable purposes; K-12 public schools; community colleges or universities; or churches/faith-based organizations for projects benefitting the community at large. Applicant must use grant funds within and for the benefit of the residents and communities of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle: Armstrong, Briscoe, Carson, Castro, Childress, Collingsworth, Dallam, Deaf Smith, Donley, Gray, Hall, Hansford, Hartley, Hemphill, Hutchinson, Lipscomb, Moore, Ochiltree, Oldham, Parmer, Potter, Randall, Roberts, Sherman, Swisher, and Wheeler.
Focus Area The boards of the Amarillo  Area Foundation and the Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation decided to take a portion of the Discretionary Grant funds from the Economic Opportunity cycle specifically to fund visual and performing arts organizations within the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.  The funding priorities are operational, programmatic, marketing, and capital expenses.
