Eligible Entities Applicant must hold a current tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. This includes: traditional agencies that have current 501(c)(3) status; a recognized government entity requesting funds for public charitable purposes; K-12 public schools; community colleges or universities; or churches/faith-based organizations for projects benefitting the community at large. Applicant must use grant funds within and for the benefit of the residents and communities of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle: Armstrong, Briscoe, Carson, Castro, Childress, Collingsworth, Dallam, Deaf Smith, Donley, Gray, Hall, Hansford, Hartley, Hemphill, Hutchinson, Lipscomb, Moore, Ochiltree, Oldham, Parmer, Potter, Randall, Roberts, Sherman, Swisher, and Wheeler.
Focus Area The Amarillo Area Foundation and the Don and Sybil B. Harrington Foundation award discretionary grants 3-4 times each year. The foundation will accept applications for any of the three strategic impact areas (Education, Healthcare, and Economic Opportunity). Discretionary grants are at least $20,000. All organizations considering applying are highly encouraged to contact the Grants Program Officer prior to submitting applications. The first step of the application process is to submit a letter of interest. The organization will be contacted to complete a full application if the project is approved to move forward.
