Focus Area
This program supports projects that expand wood energy and wood product markets in order to improve forest health, reduce wildfire risk, and strengthen rural economies. Funding prioritizes advanced-stage projects that increase wood product manufacturing capacity, develop wood energy systems, and support commercial construction using wood as a primary building material. Projects may include expanding wood processing infrastructure, developing clusters of wood energy facilities, demonstrating the environmental and economic benefits of wood construction, and advancing late-stage project planning such as engineering, permitting, and financing preparation. The program also aims to reduce forest management costs and create productive uses for hazardous fuels and forest residues.
